A few things that I thought could be different:
- The one thing that annoyed me (and this is a personal preference) is that the computer came preinstalled with a bunch of unnecessary crap – including McAfee Security Suite, Microsoft Office Trial edition, Google Toolbar, Google Desktop, various games, etc. etc. I always find it interesting how manufacturers try to “integrate” a suite of trial applications on their computers when they really have no idea how their users will want to use their computers.
- The multilingual keyboard, though perhaps useful if I were still a French immersion student, was annoying at best. Because of the extra keys, there is an annoying |\ key right next to where the Enter key would be on a normal keyboard causing me to continually type odd characters when I am supposed to be hitting the ENTER key. This was one of those things that I would have preferred not be there, but something I eventually got used to.
- The left SHIFT key is only the size of a regular key – so any non touch typist not used to this will also find this annoying. Interestingly enough, next to this key is a repeat of the |\ key that I found so annoying next to the ENTER key. Weird.
- Screen glare – although the screen offers good brightness, the shiny surface causes glare on a sunny day. I never have figured out why some manufacturers still prefer the glossy screen over matte ones.
