A nerdboys blogger blogging at 36103 feet going at 436 mph?! … seem impossible? Among some of the odder offerings of Virgin airlines (mood lighting, linux-powered in-flight consoles), they also offer in-flight WIFI.
I’ve been on vacation for the past week and a half, visiting sunny California. Though I try to leave most of the tech toys at home to spend time with the family, I did bring along my netbook, which has proved invaluable for checking email, booking flights etc.
We are on the last leg of our vacation trip now, flying aboard a Virgin America flight from Los Angeles to Seattle. What a surprise it was to learn that Virgin offers WIFI on board its airplanes and during the holiday season, Google has picked up the tab of providing that WIFI service to passengers free of charge!
Pretty cool stuff – though currently only available on select U.S. domestic flights only. Check out more about it here: http://www.freeholidaywifi.com/
