People often ask me what I do. Good question. I do many things. To some, I tell them I work with computers. They go – ah computers! Others, I tell them I develop software. Still others, I tell them I manage information technology.

All three are true. I work in I.T., but I don’t work for an I.T. company. I develop software, but I don’t work for a software company. I work for an IT department in a non-IT company.

In reality, my day-to-day job really is something more like technical research and solutions – really computing SCIENCE at its best. In the 10 years or so that I’ve been doing this now, I find it fascinating that I’ve dealt with anything from small Excel problems to being part of a team that writes an accounting system in Java. Such diversity has given me more perspective into how software development and information technology has affected the way we do things and the way we conduct our work.

I have a degree in Computing Science, with specialization in Software Engineering from Simon Fraser University. I am happily married, and a father to two beautiful young children. You can read more about him and her on my personal blog.
